Chapter 14

The smell of bacon woke Money up out of his sleep; when he looked to his left, he noticed Diamond was still out cold. Removing a blanket from the small closet, he covered her and headed upstairs to see Rich and Rome in the kitchen, along with Austin sitting in her high-chair.

“Morning family,” Money spoke; kissing Austin on the forehead, he reached over and slipped a piece of bacon into his mouth. “Reach in my bowl again, I’ll cut you!” Rome warned; both Rich and Money began to laugh.

“Damn sis. You would cut me over some bacon?” Money grabbed his chest, pretending to hurt.

“Yes, nigga.” Rome spat; she hated when anyone reached into her food while she was cooking.

“About this next heist,” Rich said, ready to plan and execute.

“We need someone to deactivate the city cameras for this to go as planned,” Rome explained, looking between Money and Rich.

“Y’all remember what happened last time we added mf’s in,” Money spat; he wasn’t with adding in more people.

“I can do it,” Diamond said; her small voice carried confidence and power.

“Who the fuck are you?” Rome questioned. “And how the fuck you get in my damn house?” Rome was on 10 as she started to walk up on Diamond holding a pot of grits.

“Shit,” Money said, “Uh, this Diamond. Diamond, that’s my brother Rich and his wife Rome,” Money explained quickly, hoping to calm Rome down.

“You bringing unknown ass bitches where I lay my head, nigga you done lost it,” Rome spat. She couldn’t believe Money thought it was okay to bring a random hoe where she and her husband lived.

“Look, Diamond cool people, she not on no shit,” Money said, trying to make sense of his poor decision. He didn’t know Diamond from a can of paint, but something in him didn’t want to let her go last night.

“Both of y’all chill,” Rich said, looking between his wife and brother. “Diamond, make yourself comfortable at the table.”

“Now we eating with this unknown ass bitch,” Rome mumbled, not loud enough for her husband to hear. Baby Austin sat in her high-chair unbothered by everything that was going on.

The only thing that could be heard was forks, knifes, and plates clattering; the breakfast Rome had prepared was delicious.

“What exactly is it that you can do, Diamond?” Rome was the first to question, putting Diamond in the hot seat. Diamond had no issue being put on the spot; she knew they knew nothing about her, and she was willing to break the ice.

“You’re in need of someone that could possibly hack into the street security system. I can do that,” Diamond said, popping a piece of bacon in her mouth.

“And,” Rome spat.

“What’s your price?” Rich asked; at that point, he figured that’s the only thing that mattered.

“40%,” Diamond responded; not knowing the exact amount of money to be accounted for, she figured a percentage would be her best route.

“15%,” Rich said; he was almost certain Diamond wouldn’t turn the offer down.

“Deal,” said Diamond.

Rome looked between Rich, Money, and Diamond.
